6 months into our new home

Sorry for not updating sooner but our life got very busy just before moving in.
Well time flies and we cannot believe that we are already at 6 months.

We did our final inspections and signed off the paperwork to get our keys and whole bunch of smiles on the 25th of March 2014.

The feeling when you walk through the door is amazing and it makes the whole experience worth the wait. Needless to say we camped on the floor overnight to experience living in our beautiful new home for the first time !!
A great feeling.....

We have completed all of our landscaping, external lighting, added window furnishings and final personal touches and been through the three month inspection but are still sitting at six months with things still outstanding.

They are not major issues but we would like to see the end of trades people.... but we are in and very happy nonetheless.

For all those who are contemplating a new build.... do it !! ... don't wait. It seems an eternity in getting through the process and it feels like it goes on forever but in the end it actually goes surprisingly quickly.

The rewards are great and the feeling ....... simply amazing !

Good luck to all who make the journey; may you make your mark in the world with a house you can be proud of.

Saturday 21 December 2013

28 November to 22 December 2013 - Christmas rush hour as PD go the extra mile

Well our kitchen arrived and very exciting to see all of the pieces finally coming together.

The butlers pantry.. We added overhead cupboards in place of shelving and more pot draws !!
Can never have too many, or maybe?

Ready to assemble the island bench..

The powder room with extended bench top... Should look nice with the full width mirror as well.

The laundry...

The Island bench gets installed with the wine rack !!

Our master ensuite benches with a dressing table, a must have ! ....

Upstairs bathroom with bath tub..

The other double ensuite upstairs bathroom

The theatre door arrives.... should look fantastic when stained in english walnut...to match the stairs and feature doors.

The alfresco roof gets sarking !! apparently the pitch of the roof dictates whether the roof is sarked or not. In our case this means the alfresco, added dining room (enclosed alfresco) and the garage. If you are thinking of adding insulation post hand over, think again. Should not need it in the garage anyway, but would have been nice had we thought of it.

We get wrapped again ready for painting... the dining room...

Looking towards the kitchen....

Down into the void {with added bunny ears}, Cool !! ....

Garage door with retaining wall filled and capped....

Rear of the garage with ceiling and architraves installed....

Garage door entry and future fuse board with window.... The window is great as it lets in so much more light with the door closed. Very glad we did the 1 meter extension to the garage..... the mini man cave is complete.

Dining room finished... or near being finished....

Looking from the dining room back towards the kitchen and hallway... looking more and more like the display... Terrific !!

The upstairs verandah gets concrete... Can hardly wait for the tile to go on....

Our idea to add a storage cupboard is coming along, the extra height doors, BAM !! in white... they look great.

Garage door colour looks like it all blends well. The nerves are getting less as we see it all come to life. A very different feeling to the day of colour selections when you think you have made the right choices but now you get to look at it .... every day......, this should be nice to come home to though. Very happy.

Our verandah and Juliet balcony railings are on now as well, just need to add the facade features to complete the look....

The theatre door gets installed, nice sliding action and feels very solid.... In the display they don't move so it was always a worry as to what this might be like but its not bad at all. Very nice door.

The theatre entrance painted... Nice contrasts in colour.. Feature wall colours still to do though.....

Our tiles arrive Yay !!. We are told the tiler will work over christmas... Music to our ears as the trades start to slow down... Glad to hear that some are not taking holidays and means we will get to see some things moving along...

Upstairs colours come to life...

From downstairs towards the hallway...

Merry Christmas to all and thanks for watching... more updates with tiling; we hope in the not too distant future.
