28 November to 22 December 2013 - Christmas rush hour as PD go the extra mile

Well our kitchen arrived and very exciting to see all of the pieces finally coming together.

The butlers pantry.. We added overhead cupboards in place of shelving and more pot draws !!
Can never have too many, or maybe?

Ready to assemble the island bench..

The powder room with extended bench top... Should look nice with the full width mirror as well.

The laundry...

The Island bench gets installed with the wine rack !!

Our master ensuite benches with a dressing table, a must have ! ....

Upstairs bathroom with bath tub..

The other double ensuite upstairs bathroom

The theatre door arrives.... should look fantastic when stained in english walnut...to match the stairs and feature doors.

The alfresco roof gets sarking !! apparently the pitch of the roof dictates whether the roof is sarked or not. In our case this means the alfresco, added dining room (enclosed alfresco) and the garage. If you are thinking of adding insulation post hand over, think again. Should not need it in the garage anyway, but would have been nice had we thought of it.

We get wrapped again ready for painting... the dining room...

Looking towards the kitchen....

Down into the void {with added bunny ears}, Cool !! ....

Garage door with retaining wall filled and capped....

Rear of the garage with ceiling and architraves installed....

Garage door entry and future fuse board with window.... The window is great as it lets in so much more light with the door closed. Very glad we did the 1 meter extension to the garage..... the mini man cave is complete.

Dining room finished... or near being finished....

Looking from the dining room back towards the kitchen and hallway... looking more and more like the display... Terrific !!

The upstairs verandah gets concrete... Can hardly wait for the tile to go on....

Our idea to add a storage cupboard is coming along, the extra height doors, BAM !! in white... they look great.

Garage door colour looks like it all blends well. The nerves are getting less as we see it all come to life. A very different feeling to the day of colour selections when you think you have made the right choices but now you get to look at it .... every day......, this should be nice to come home to though. Very happy.

Our verandah and Juliet balcony railings are on now as well, just need to add the facade features to complete the look....

The theatre door gets installed, nice sliding action and feels very solid.... In the display they don't move so it was always a worry as to what this might be like but its not bad at all. Very nice door.

The theatre entrance painted... Nice contrasts in colour.. Feature wall colours still to do though.....

Our tiles arrive Yay !!. We are told the tiler will work over christmas... Music to our ears as the trades start to slow down... Glad to hear that some are not taking holidays and means we will get to see some things moving along...

Upstairs colours come to life...

From downstairs towards the hallway...

Merry Christmas to all and thanks for watching... more updates with tiling; we hope in the not too distant future.

Final roof trusses for garage, dining room and alfresco .. roofing too 20 - 26 November 2013

Finally we get to have the house to the stage of being closed up..... roof trusses get installed on the 20th with gutters and fascia installed as well...

The garage gets some trusses...

Looking down into the dining room...

Looking up from the dining room off the kitchen...

The alfresco gets tiled... On the 25th we got a new gas line and on the 26th we got tiled !!!
The ceiling is so high, should be great for the first BBQ.....

Great to finally be out of the wet in these two rooms.....

Almost there... we decided against the eaves on the front of the garage as they would spoil the look of the facade. PD were great, they just cut them off and bingo.... no eaves.

Should look even better now from what we have seen of this facade on other PD homes.

More rendering tomorrow... and we are told that our kitchen might be arriving on Thursday the 28th...... here's hoping !
Will keep you posted....

We have stairs !! - 19 November 2013

We have seen so many posts where the excitement of your first set of stairs is talked about and now it was our turn. It is certainly a great feeling to climb a set of stairs rather than a ladder.... the look and feel is sooooo much better and different too .....

From the family room upstairs and looking back .....

From the hallway looking towards the front....

From the meals/Kitchen looking up to the void....

From the front door..... Ready for staining .... fantastic....!!
and to think they were installed in a day...... we love the glass look and feel, can't wait to see them stained.

Front bedroom upstairs gets cupboard doors...

Bedrooms get architraves and skirting...

Linen cupboard with deco doors too 2340 high..... love it !

Bath hob with my extra fibre glass insulation... toastie... should keep it warm...

Upstairs bedroom door.... looking more and more like a home now.....

Rough in and plastering Starts - 06 November 2013

Well the PD team power on. On the 6th November we had the alarm system roughed in with eaves being installed and the fridge tap (a late addition) also put in. A note for this considering a new fridge, it is hard to buy a family fridge without a need for a water connection, so well worth doing it when you get the chance at tender stage.

On the 7th the plasterers arrived and we thought they might take 2 weeks, but they only took 4 days !!
Wow it looks great too.

The upstairs family room...

The kitchen and butlers pantry...

Our fireplace... now behind plaster...

While the plaster was going on our 2nd story bricks got cleaned on the same day.. the eaves were painted on the 11th of November and they worked hard to remove the scaffolding which revealed the house ... Finally !!

The front facade and colour comes to life....
